Well I got a friend who decided to over cook something in the microwave. The microwave is still good, and wasn't toasted, but has this burnt smell everytime you use it now. So does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to get the smell out? Thanks for any help.
Another question would be is it good for the microwave user to still use it with this smell? Is the food coming out from it safe now?
If it isn't she will starve!
I've gotten popcorn bags with like hairline fractures in them that expand as it pops and the butter splatters and burns. best to take the tray out and wash it. every once in a while the smell will linger for a few times when you use the microwave again but it eventually goes away. I wouldnt worry too much.
I don't know about that. Something got burned in our microwave last year, and it smelled of smoke for a couple months. It eventually went away, but... She might just have to put up with it. I'd suggest leaving the door of it open as much as possible, so It can air out and such. the light being on might annoy her, but it's that or it'll never cclear.
I've heard that if you put a bowl with a combination of baking soda and water in the microwave over night it will absorb the smell.
I've also heard the same about a bowl full of vinegar.
Haven't tried either method, so, if you do, let us know how it works.

I put vinegar and water in a coffee cup heated it for a minute and just let it sit in the microwave to let the steam go into the oven. the smells go away then. You can take a paper towel and wipe the oven out with the same mixture. Taking the tray out and cleaning under it with vinegar and water helps too.
i love you skipper! lol
Boiling vinegar in it should definitely do the trick.
